Bridging open work permits

Review bridging open work permit options with a Toronto RCIC. Value Visa checks your PR application stage, status and supporting records.

Planning your application

Waiting for a permanent residence decision can create uncertainty when a work permit is approaching expiry. A bridging open work permit is a specific option for eligible applicants; it is not available simply because someone intends to apply for permanent residence.

How Value Visa can help

We review the permanent residence program, submission records, acknowledgements and your current status. The aim is to establish what stage your file has reached and which requirements apply before choosing a work authorization plan.

Your review is specific to your circumstances. We explain the proposed work and confirm fees in writing before beginning. Government fees are separate.

Documents to discuss

Bring the records you already have to the consultation. This starting list does not replace the personalized checklist for your application.

  • Current work permit and passport
  • PR application submission and acknowledgement records
  • Nomination documents, where relevant
  • Correspondence from IRCC and permit expiry timeline

For the initial inquiry, describe your situation and deadlines. Ask us how to share sensitive documents before emailing identity or financial records.

Current official guidance

Requirements, fees and processing information can change. Use the official instructions alongside advice about your own circumstances.

Frequently asked questions

Is an Express Entry profile enough to obtain a bridging permit?

A profile is not the same as a submitted permanent residence application. Bridging eligibility depends on the program and application stage, among other requirements.

What will a consultation cover?

We discuss your goal, immigration history and the documents available, identify questions that need further review and explain the scope of assistance. Fees are confirmed in writing before work begins; government fees are separate.

Can Value Visa guarantee approval or a processing date?

No. IRCC makes immigration decisions, and processing times can change. We help prepare a complete, consistent application and explain the next steps without promising an outcome.

Discuss your next step
